Ta dah, Shawl reveal

It started with these
48 balls of Schachenmayr SMC Catania . I bought them way back in May from here.

I decided I wanted a colourful  rectangular shawl. It has been a labour of love and hate. Love because the yarn made me so very happy and hate because I had to weave in all the ends .I decided to weave and tidy each square as I made them, practical but blooming boring. I have made many other things in between, in a bid to stop me throwing this into the back of the WIP cupboard.

But persevere I did and viola she is complete

Isnt she fun??? Im so happy
Shall I tell you how many squares she took to make ?  84 squares , each square comprises  of 4 rows of colour and 1 row of cream to join together.
Border comprises of 2 row in cream, followed by three rows in a pale green called Kiwi ()the same yarn brand .The final bobble edging is in a discontinued yarn that I cant find a label for I bought it years ago at Olympia Stitching show  from Black sheep yarns ,It is aran weight 100% cashmere. It is the perfect colour and I think it frames it perfectly.
The back of the shawl is just as pretty

She is  big my pictures don't seem to convey that, I will take some more shots but I was so excited to show it to you,

Isnt the border great??? it is from this book . Warning you will probably spend a lot of money here please don't blame me, the books are so wonderful I have bought far too many I'm on a book diet at the moment. However,  somehow the new Nigel slater book did fall into my amazon basket, when it comes to Nigel I just cant say no.

So what do you think? Me, I think she is perfect, as I write this post Im sitting with it wrapped around my shoulders. Yum.

  3. Thank you for visiting my blog and leaving a comment. Absolutely beautiful, the colours are scrummy and all the yarn laid out at the start is wonderful. I think the border really sets it off, and you've finished it in the nick of time as the cooler weather is on its way.
